Shirodhara Treatment

I just recently returned from a life changing training in Ayurveda. I’ve always been interested in Ayurveda and the beautiful ancient lineage of it. As you know, I’m in love with beauty. Ayurveda is focused upon beauty from the inside. For example, acne, in Ayurvedic wisdom, is caused by poor digestion and high pitta. Pitta is one of the Ayurvedic body types.

Shirodhara, an element of Ayurvedic medicine has been used for 5,000 years in India. Shirodhara combines ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern health and beauty techniques. The word shirodhara breaks down into two parts: “shiro”meaning head and “dhara” which means flow. Shiordhara is a relaxing technique in which warm oil is poured over a clients forehead.  The oil has been chosen according to clients dosha (body type). The oil is poured slowly in a steady stream from a free-standing copper vessel directly above your forehead. For 20-30 minutes you are lulled into a tranquil state of well-being and meditation.

“The oils gently nourish the skin and naturally replenish the oils that are lost throughout the day,” says Raichur, a naturopath, aesthetician, and chemist, and the author of Absolute Beauty: Secret to Radiant Skin and Inner Vitality Through the Art and Science of Ayurveda.

The shirodhara ritual is wonderful following abhyanga (warm oil massage). It is especially beneficial for stressed out clients. It helps to balance the mind and nervous system, increase memory, strengthen the hair and ease tension headaches. It’s very powerful. I slept better than I had in months after the treatment, which makes it also great for insomnia too.

I am now offering this beautiful treatment in my healing studio! Come and try it out, you will not regret it
